Section J and BERS PRO Energy Efficiency Audits
There are essentially three methods to perform a BCA Section J assessment on a building's design. Deemed to Satisfy or DTS method, Alternative Solution which is the Verification Method JV3 using a reference building and a combination of the above methods. Either of the two distinct methods have their own advantages and shortcomings but due to its much lower assessment fees and compilation time, a BCA Section J assessment using a DTS report is generally the preferred and widely accepted solution although for certain design solutions a BCA Section J Alternative Solution is the only possible method.
Our BCA Section J DTS assessments can be considered a design review of the building elements related to energy efficiency versus the DTS compliance requirements of the BCA Section J. Each construction and service element which is addressed is evaluated separately and irrespective of its interaction with other building elements which contribute to energy efficiency performance of the building either positively or negatively. Our proactive service ensures we assist designers to find alternative solutions to compliance with the BCA Section J requirements.
For Class 1 (Houses) and 2 (Units) building we also provide full BERSPRO Energy efficiency reports for compliance with the BCA to achieve the current requirement of 6 stars. Our proactive energy efficiency modelling service allows us to provide advice on selections of materials and strategies to provide compliance whilst minimising cost of construction.#
