City of Canning Civic Centre
Project Scope
This project comprised 5,200 m2 of new council offices constructed over two levels, incorporating undercover car parking, three on grade external car parks, an amphitheatre and surrounding landscaped gardens and water features.
The Administration and Civic Centre comprises the following key facilities:
- Function centre and breakout space
- administration offices
- reception foyer and art display and information centre
- executive suites
- council chambers and public gallery
- committee briefing, board room and meeting rooms
- Mayor's suite, council dining room and lounge
Budget and Program
The budget for the project is A$12M. Construction commenced in 2004 by Cooper and Oxley.
Consultant team members and their role
Rodney Byl MAIBS (working for the City of Canning) was the building surveyor engaged to undertake a comprehensive BCA analysis of the entire project and identify opportunities for alternative solutions and final assessment of the project.
Scope of consultancy services provided
Rodney undertook BCA assessment of entire internal layout and identified opportunities for alternative solutions and final assessment of same. It was necessary for Rodney to collaborate with consultant team to ensure the project was documented in compliance with the BCA.\
