Djarragun College Science Building, Gordonvale

Project Scope

This project comprised a new two storey science building located at Djarragun College located 30 minutes south of Cairns at Gordonvale.

Comprising a comprising science laboratories, complete with reticulated gas and highly serviced electrical and mechanical installations this project was delivered within the original schematic design estimates prepared by Beacon Consulting.

Budget and Program

The budget for the project was A$1.50M. Construction was completed in March 2011 and was delivered by Beacon Consulting on Budget.

Consultant team members and their role

Greg McDonald (Director) was the Cost Planner during from initial inception of the project and BGA funding stage, throughout design development phase and Post Contract Quantity Surveyor engaged by the Client during the construction phase of the building works.  Greg delivered the project within the budget constraints set aside by the school.

Scope of consultancy services provided

Beacon Consulting provided initial project concept costing advice and assisted in preparing the budgets for submission to the BGA for funding of the project.  During the design phase we provided full cost planning and estimating services and also provide post contract services including variation assessment during the construction phase.
