Project Scope

A four wing, two storey, 86 Bed aged care facility, this project located in Westcourt Cairns this project is Cairn's newest residential aged care facility and sets a benchmark for style and quality finishing for this type of project.  Constructed by Hutchinson Builders this project was built on a difficult site this screw piled building required complex and proactive cost planning to deliver the project within budget.

Budget and Program

The budget for the project was A$14M and was delivered on budget by Beacon Consulting. Construction was completed on the project in December 2010.

Consultant team members and their role

Greg McDonald AAIQS (Director) was engaged by Holy Spirit Care Services and Bickerton Masters Architecture as the leader of the Quantity Surveying team on this project. Greg’s role involved leadership of all the cost planning, procurement  advice, tender analysis, cost reporting and financial management of the overall project. The project was delivered on budget at tender time and was well managed during the construction phase to ensure value for money was achieved.

Scope of consultancy services provided

Beacon Consulting provided full Cost Planning, Procurement Advice, Tender Analysis, Full Post Contract Services including Progress Claim Assessment, Variation Management and Cost Reporting.
