Project Scope
The JCU Tropical Biosecurity Laboritory is a PC3 lab that will be built on James Cook University’s Townsville Campus. The new facility will enable faster diagnosis of devastating diseases such as Anthrax, Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Avian Influenza and Hendra virus.
It is part of the Queensland Government's $32 million Biosecurity Strategy and its 2020 Beef Plan, which will fund new and improved biosecurity and a network of world-class beef research facilities.
Budget and Program
The budget for the project is A$13M. Construction is scheduled to commence early in 2012 with completion planed with 2013.
Consultant team members and their role
Greg McDonald is the team leader on this project and will manage the BOQ team during the preparation peiod as well as measure selected trades. This project was fully modelled in every discipline in Autodesk Revit and was measured almost entirely from the 3D BIM model for the purposes of preparing the Bill of Quantiites.
Scope of consultancy services provided
Beacon Consulting have been engaged to provide full Bills of Quantities to ASMM 5 during the procurement phase.
