Project Scope
Designed by Brisbane architecture firm Reddog Architects this project entailed the redevelopment of the existing Stockland Shopping Centre in Rockhampton, which consists of two separate buildings, separated by Moores Creek.
The project brief included demolition of the oldest part of the shopping precinct to allow for the construction of a new wing linking the southern site to the remaining centre via a retail bridge spanning across Moores Creek.
The centre is seen as an integral part to the shopping lifestyle of the people of Rockhampton. The Bridge Court and The Majors Court.The Bridge Court takes advantage of views over Moores Creek and beyond. The large glass façade protected from direct sun with metal screening provides visual relief for the shopper. As you move through the centre, natural daylight is provided by long skylights which punctuate the ceiling. The Majors Court opens to the ground level carpark and is the entry to the two major tenants, Kmart and Coles.
Budget and Program
The budget for the project was $A70M. Construction was completed in late 2010.
Consultant team members and their role
David Tilby (Director) was the lead cost planner and head of the Beacon Consulting team delivering this project. David has been involved from the very beginning of this project setting initial early budgets and cost planning the project through the design and tender phases and also during the construction phase of the project. We also prepared Bills of Quantities on this project for which Ken Lewis and David Tilby were team leaders
Scope of consultancy services provided
Beacon Consulting provided full cost planning and estimating services on this project including a Bill of Quantities and also provided post contract services including variation assessment.
